TEEN and CHILDREN'S Auditions, September 7-9, 2007

for THE CHRISTMAS REVELS 2007
Eight performances at Lisner Auditorium: December 8-9 & 14-16

For our 25th annual Christmas Revels, we visit the colorful Renaissance
world of Shakespeare & Queen Elizabeth I. Will Kemp, the irreverent and brilliantly talented clown from Shakespeare's company, has just danced for nine days from London to Norwich. He must now devise some rustic revels for the Queen, soon to arrive on her Winter Solstice 'progress.' Mischief and merriment ensue, with glorious Renaissance music, rousing Morris dance, a set of rustic
actors, and the Queen of England! Featuring Mark Jaster as Will Kemp, Katrina Van Duyn as Queen Elizabeth, Oran Sandel as Lord Chamberlain, Piffaro, The Renaissance Band, and the Foggy Bottom Morris Men, along with the Revels Brass and the Revels Company of adults, teens and children.

Please note: The Washington Revels community reflects our larger community, therefore we are seeking to create a diverse chorus consisting of good singers of all ancestries, sizes and ages.

Audition Information for CHILDREN

Seeking enthusiastic singers entering grades 3-5 (ages 8-10)

• Friday, September 7 at 5:00, 6:00 and 7:00pm
• Saturday, September 8 at 9:30, 10:30, and 11:30am
• Sunday, September 9 at 1:00pm (Callbacks Only)

The Revels Children's Chorus is open to boys and girls entering grades 3-5 in Fall 2007. The auditions on Friday, Spetember 7 will be at the Washington Ethical Society, located at 7750 16th Street NW, Washington DC 20012 <view map>. The auditions on Saturday, September 8 and callbacks on Sunday, September 9 will be held at the Revels Office, 7776 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC. (Lowell School, Parkside Bldg) <view map & directions>.

You must call the office at 202-723-7528 to sign up for an audition slot. Each child should prepare a short song to sing unaccompanied (no pop please). The audition process will include singing, speaking, playing and moving with other children and will take approximately one hour.

Audition Information for TEENS

Seeking strong singers and dancers entering grades 9 – 12

Also casting four featured teen dancers (2 boys, 2 girls)

• Saturday, September 8 at 2:00pm
• Sunday, September 9 at 5:30 and 6:30pm

Teen auditions will be held on Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 9 at the Revels Office, 7776 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC. (Lowell School, Parkside Bldg) <view map & directions>. These auditions are open to anyone entering grades 9-12 in Fall 2007.

You must call the Revels office at 202-723-7528 to sign up for an audition slot. Each teen should prepare an unaccompanied song that they enjoy singing and are comfortable with (no pop tunes, please). A carol or traditional song is ideal. The audition process will also include group singing and moving or dancing with others and will take approximately one hour.

Wednesday Rehearsals

• 10 Wednesday Afternoons, Sept. 19 – Nov. 14 and Nov. 28: 4:30-6:00pm

Weekend Rehearsals

• Saturday, October 27: 9:00am - 5:00pm
• Saturday, November 17: 9:00am - 5:00pm
• Sunday, November 18: Noon - 6:00pm
• Sunday, December 2: 1:00 - 6:00pm

In-Theater Rehearsals

• December 3 – December 6: 4:30 – 9:30 or 10:00 (or until done Dec. 5 and 6)

8 Performances (children’s call time is generally two hours before performance time)

• Weekend 1:
  - Outreach Performance (final dress) on Friday, December 7 at 7:30pm
  - Saturday, December 8 at 2:00pm & 7:30pm
  - Sunday, December 9 at 1:00pm & 5:00pm
