TEEN and CHILDREN'S Auditions, September 11-13

for THE 2009 CHRISTMAS REVELS
Eight performances at Lisner Auditorium: December 5-6 & 11-13

For the 27th Christmas Revels in Washington, DC, we travel to Renaissance Italy and visit the workshop of Leonardo da Vinci. It is the end of the 15th century, an age of new exploration of man's relationship to nature, an intoxicating elevation of the human imagination. We celebrate with glorious music, rousing dance, a Roman Saturnalia, and much more! Special guests include the world-renowned early music ensemble Piffaro, The Renaissance Band.

Please note: The Washington Revels community reflects our larger community; we therefore seek to create a diverse cast consisting of strong performers of all backgrounds and ancestries.

Audition Information for CHILDREN

Seeking strong performers entering entering grades 3-5 in Fall 2009

• Friday, September 11 at 5:00, 6:00 and 7:00pm
• Saturday, September 12 at 10:30 and 11:30am
• Sunday, September 13 (afternoon - Callbacks Only)

The auditions and callbacks will be held at the Washington Revels Office (531 Dale Drive, Sliver Spring, MD) <view map>.

You must call the Revels office after Aug. 17 at 301-587-3835 to sign up for an audition slot. Each child should prepare an unaccompanied song that he or she enjoys singing and is comfortable with (no pop songs or show tunes, please). The ability to speak Italian is helpful but not required.

Audition Information for TEENS

Seeking strong singers and dancers entering grades 9-12 in Fall 2009

• Saturday, September 12 at 3:00, 4:15, 5:30 and 6:45pm

Teen auditions will at the Washington Revels Office (531 Dale Drive, Sliver Spring, MD) <view map>.

You must call the Revels office after Aug. 17 at 301-587-3835 to sign up for an audition slot. Each teen should prepare an unaccompanied song that he or she enjoys singing and is comfortable with (no pop songs or show tunes, please). The ability to speak Italian is helpful but not required. A carol or traditional song is ideal. The audition process will also include group singing and moving or dancing with others and will take approximately one hour. Wednesday Rehearsals

• Saturday, October 24: 9:00am - 5:00pm
• Saturday, November 21: 9:00am - 5:00pm
• Sunday, November 22: Noon - 6:00pm (Possible earlier call for children)
• Sunday, November 29: 1:00pm - 6:00pm

• November 30 – December 3: 4:45 to 9:30-10:00pm (or until done Dec. 2 and 3)
